Do's and Don'ts of Design…Furniture

DO Have one dramatic element that commands your immediate attention.
This could be an architectural element (such as a fireplace) or a unique piece of furniture.

DON'T Place all your furniture against the wall.
Experiment with angles and avoid the urge to line everything up on a right angle.


DO Measure the arm height of your sofa or chair before purchasing a side table. Make sure the table height is equal to, or less than, the arm height of the seating piece it will be next to.

DON'T Forget to take a look around your home before you shop. Inventory your existing items with an open mind.
A night stand in the Guest Room might make the perfect end table in the Living Room. The artwork over your bed might look fabulous in the Kitchen. Don't be afraid to think outside the box, or room, as the case may be.
